Wanna party? New mini-grant program will help

Good things happen when people get together. That’s why Norwood Together is launching a mini-grant program to support block parties across the city.

The Block Party Mini-Grants will offer informational and financial support to Norwood residents who want to organize a block party with their neighbors. Grantees will have access to a Block Party Guide created by Norwood Together as well as community experts. Cash grants can be used for food, non-alcoholic drinks, entertainment, or invitations.

Any Norwood resident can apply for a Block Party Mini-Grant. The applications will open in March.

A committee will be awarded on an equal basis across all four wards of Norwood. The goal is to have parties happening throughout the summer and fall all over the city.

Tim and Vicki Garry issued a challenge to other residents when they donated the money to start the program. They will match up to $2,500 in donations. If the total amount is raised — $5,000 — Norwood Together will be able to offer the Block Party Mini-Grant Program for at least two years.
